I need roller blades, but I wear a Size 15 shoe...?

I can%26#039;t find a web site that sells skates my size, do you know of any?

I need roller blades, but I wear a Size 15 shoe...?
depends on the maker of the skates is what size you need. if you are just buying skates at say walmart or a local sporting store then basic shoe size is how they are normally measured.

if you want real inline skates, then look into names like luigino, powerslide, bont, etc. here is the sizing chart for two of them but remember....top of the line inlines are each measured by each manufacturers specs. http://www.powerslideusa.com/luigino/siz...

I myself have the Powerslide C4%26#039;s (http://www.powerslideusa.com/C4_tech_spe... ) and absolutly love them. On indoor track have been clocked at 28mph and I know from others they can handle up to 85mph outdoors.

also know that normal ones bought at like walmart will not be fast, not be comfortable, not be form fitting to your feet and ankles, will have low grade wheels, bearings and spacers. like anything else...you get what you pay for.

Need help with roller skates?

What kind of shops/malls sell quad (not inline) roller skates? I%26#039;ve looked around all the shoe shops and sports shops I can think of, but nowhere sells adult size quad skates. What kind of place would sell them if none of the aformentioned?

Need help with roller skates?
Look at skating rinks for the higher end quad skates.

If you are near a city where they have a Roller Derby league, contact them to see where they get their skates. You might even be able to get some pointers.

The big box sports stores list them, I suppose it may depend on your location if they actually have them in the stores.

Dick%26#039;s (http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/family...

Sports Authority (http://www.sportsauthority.com/family/in...

Going online is a last resort because you want them to fit better than a guess and a good shop (especially the rinks) are likely to have someone who can help you choose the features that fit your use as well as your feet.

Ebay would be beyond the last resort unless you really know what you are doing or really don%26#039;t care about fit or quality.
Reply:Best place is on the web- maybe ebay shops.. There are several skate webites listed, and as long as you know your size, it%26#039;s easy to find the quads..Try the link below.. good luck.. ! Tanya Adair

How to Ice Skate? Is it the same as Roller Blades?

How do you Ice Skate? Is it the same as Roller Blades except it%26#039;s on ice? I%26#039;m very good in roller blading but I%26#039;m gona try to learn ice skating for school, teach me some tips? I%26#039;ve never get on the ice before except playing broomball, but we wore shoes playing that. Help plz

Thx

How to Ice Skate? Is it the same as Roller Blades?
Push off and glide. It isn%26#039;t all that difficult. Just keep your center of balance. It is kind of the same concept of skiing also. You need to know how to turn and stop. If you can roller blade you can probably skate. Same type of falls and injuries, just a different surface for landing. You%26#039;ll be fine. Just ware the elbow and knee pads and a helmet for protection when first starting out. Hard landings hurt.
Reply:I find ice skating to be much easier than roller blading, partly because I started it much earlier, and partly because on ice you can slide sideways (blades perpendicular to the direction you%26#039;re going) to stop etc.

Also, when you wipe out, it sure helps to slide a bit instead of doing the old face plant on pavement!
Reply:no! It is soooo fuckn diffrent!
Reply:Hard core practice

if you%26#039;ve rolar blade before it will be SO easy.
Reply:I didn%26#039;t find it too hard when I went ice skating last year it%26#039;s a bit different but not that much - if you%26#039;re good at rollerblading i don%26#039;t see that you will have any problems
Reply:I do not think they are the same! Ice Skating was harder for me, I never had my shoes tied tight enough to give me the support in my ankles that you need to ice skate!
Reply:Make sure you learn how to stop... Or you could break your leg... I speak from experience
Reply:Well rollers are close to hockey.....actually hockey players like to use them as summer trainers......but I believe you will learn to skate much easier if you are good at roller blades. The first 10 min will be hard as you have to get use to the new %26#039; ground%26#039; but then you will be ok.A friend of mine is really good at roller blades. He stepped on the ice last year for the firs time in his life and after 15 min he was so cool.Even at the end of the public skating he managed to do some tricks he knew from rollers ....like jumping from front to back......and he did it on the ice....so don%26#039;t worry......having skating with rollers will help you a lot with skates.

If you are interested in figure skating.....it%26#039;s different.Rollers are not good for summer practice as they destroy the stance of figure skaters.....
Reply:it%26#039;s the same
Reply:Exactly. It%26#039;s exactly the same. No difference. And basketball is exactly the same as soccer. And Kia%26#039;s are exactly like Rolls Royce%26#039;s. And girls are exactly like boys. Etc. Any other questions?
Reply:i personally dont think it is the same...... it all depends. i roller skate real well but when i got on the ice, i almost broke my ankles!!! you have to keep your feet perfectly straight or you are not going to get very far...
Reply:Not really. For one thing you need ice to ice skate and most

any surface is okay for roller blades. However, the balance

necessary to do either is about the same. With ice skating

you don%26#039;t usually skin your elbows and knees, but often time

you get a pretty good thump on the butt.
Reply:first you try to ballice. then you skate slowly then faster and faster. there you got it.=)
Reply:no its not
Reply:it not the same but it is very similar .... people that know how to rollerblade will probably find it much easier to balance then people that don%26#039;t

but it usually takes sometime to get used to skating on the ice because to surface is harder to skate on
Reply:it is basicaly there is just a little bit of a different feel to them like the blade is smaller so it is a littler harder to balence edges are harder on ice but turning back wards is alot easyer to do on ice with out falling so careful when turning that u dont turn to far so u stat fronwards but dont worry about it if ur good on rollar blade skaing will be no problem
Reply:No it%26#039;s not the same..Alot of people when they start ice skating for the first time find it is hard on thier ankles..It%26#039;s alot harder to ice skate than to roller blade.
Reply:it%26#039;s basically the same. i%26#039;ve rollerbladed and when i went on the ice- poof i knew how to ice skate. although the people above are right - the only thing i can%26#039;t do- even 15years later is stop .ha . i always just skate into the wall slowly or grab on to someone;o)
Reply:Not the same but will be easy because you already can roller blade. The first time I tried ice skating, I couldn%26#039;t. I went home, put on a pair of roller skates, learned, and when I went back to the ice, I could skate! The best tip for me was to bend forward to keep my balance, and not skating too slow also helped. Have fun!!
Reply:I am very good at roller blading. I went ice skating about a year ago for the first time. When I first went out there, I was slipping and could barely walk out to the ice. After about 2 minutes, I started to get the hang of it. a few more minutes later, I finally knew what I was doing. like an hour later, i was even doing spins (like the fun kind u do on rollerblades). It is a whole lot like rollerblading, but on the smooth ice, sometimes it felt as if i was rollerblading on wet ground. you just have to adjust the way you skate a tiny bit. i suggest not looking at or paying too much attention to ur feet because i did a lot better when i didn%26#039;t.

Some people think it is a lot easier than rollerblading, but, for others, rollerblading is easier

Hope everything goes well for you
Reply:for me

I took ice skating lessons and it helped me a lot in rollerblading

so rollerblading is basically like ice skating
Reply:roller blading is almost the same but iceskating is way harder!!!
Reply:Yep.But with rollerskateing,u dont get ur butt wet.
Reply:it%26#039;s not the same. it depends on which skates you use.

figure skates are easier in my opinion. hockey skates are hard.

you use toe picks (located on the front of the skates) to skate with figure skates.

with hockey skates, its sorta like rollerblading. so yah. good luck.
Reply:i think its different for everyone, i can ice skate and roller skate but wasnt real good on roller blades
Reply:ya i rollerblade to its basicly the same

Why do my feet hurt while roller blading?

I just bought some roller blades, ands my feet hurt when i ride. They are a bit small. I am a size 10 or so in athletic shoes, and my blades are 11, so maybe i should get a bigger size? just standing in them hurts my feet. I am pissed, because i just bought them and they hurt my feet. is it just because they are brand new? i though it would go away, but ive ridden in them twice and still it hurts my inner foot. i even tried to loosen the laces and the latch, and although it helped somewhat, it hurt after a little while. any suggestions?

Why do my feet hurt while roller blading?
Depending on the brand that you bought, roller blades tend to be made of majority plastic. Unfortunately this is not great for breaking in and allowing them to form to your feet. If your %26quot;inner foot%26quot; hurts, I would have to say that it is most likely you need arch-support. I really like Dr. Scholls, but you could go with any brand of foot inserts. Remember you can always trim the inserts to fit the skate (unless they are gel inserts). If you are getting blisters on the inner foot, then your skates are too big or you are wearing them too loose. Skate shops also sell %26quot;blister pads%26quot; which are round and you simply place them in the skate where you are getting blisters, it keeps your foot from moving as much in the skate.

I am sad to say that your skates may not be too big or too small. Recreational roller blades tend to be uncomfortable and painful. Your best option might be to try a different brand altogether. Also, it is important to remember that you get what you pay for.
Reply:Your welcome! I know that $75 seems like a lot, but the skates that I trained in cost more like $500+ just for the boot. I hope the inserts help, and remember that it takes a while for the skate to fit to your foot (or vice versa). Happy skating! Report It

Reply:It actually may be that they are too loose over the middle part of your foot. If the boot is not tightly attached to your foot, then during every swing phase when the boot is in the air there is strain placed on the foot. Try thick socks %26amp; keep them snug. I would also go back to the skate shop %26amp; ask for some assistance in fitting you properly. Even if you didn%26#039;t buy them at a skate shop, see if you can find a shop in your area where you can get some experienced help - they shouldn%26#039;t mind, because at some point you%26#039;ll be back for accessories or new skates if you skate enough to wear these out.
Reply:Small for you? ^^ i think thats the answer

Question about roller blades and ice skates?

I want to learn ice skating but I can%26#039;t due to the fact that it doesn%26#039;t snow where I live plus, ice skating rinks cost a fortune.... If I train on roller blades first before going on ice skating, will that help me when the time comes that I will put on my ice skating shoes for the first time?

Question about roller blades and ice skates?
Rollerblading and ice skating . . . you would use similar muscles groups, so it can help - especially if you are just starting to skate (better than no skating at all, right?). You%26#039;ll gain experience with transporting yourself with %26quot;things%26quot; on your feet - and build up strength and steadiness. Obviously the equipment and surface are different from ice skating . . . so keep in mind there will be differences in technique (that%26#039;s why rollerblading is generally not recommended for already serious figure skaters).

Here%26#039;s an article . . . something to try if/when you get to that point on your rollerblades!

Figure Skate on Inline Skates

How to Do Ice Skating Tricks on Inline Skates

http://figurespeedskating.suite101.com/a...

The experience may help you by the time you do get to go on the ice. Some adapt quickly from the get go - others take more time. Regardless, there will be some adjustment period to get the hang of ice skating.

I find that rollerbladers and rollerskaters transfer to the ice quite well. But, in my opinion, it%26#039;s a lot harder for figure skaters to transfer to skating with wheels.

Oh - and when you do decide to train on ice - go for group lessons - that%26#039;s the least expensive way to go!

Good luck!
Reply:watch the movie : %26quot;cutting the edge%26quot;

:-)

Its fun to rollerblade.

But you are gonna be surprised at the absence of friction (and speed) on the ice - and land on your ****!!

:-) which is ok to start with :-p
Reply:should help with balance and what-not, but rollerskating and ice skating are different when it comes to actually doing it... i sugges you try finding your balance on the skates, but try not to get too used to it lol

xx
Reply:roller blading and ice skating are very different. both different type of skates on different surfaces. roller blading can help you with balance so that you can balance with ice skating. but i can%26#039;t guarantee you will be a good ice skater if you are a good roller skater. but it will be a little easier to ice skate if you%26#039;ve had some [roller] skating experience
Reply:it wont help you ive been skating since i was little and i did gymnastics too....it wont help you because the ice is slippery..so my suggestion to you is move somewhere else or tell your parents or who ever to go to work more often...

Shoes for theme park?

Hey tomorrow we are going to a theme park on a field trip, and we have to wear tennis shoes so our flip flops don%26#039;t fly away on the roller coasters, however, our teacher said we could bring flip flops in a bag or something if we desired for water rides. I know last year we all just wore flip flops and sat on them while on the roller coasters, but we got a new teacher and I guess she doesn%26#039;t know that. Anyway, do you think I should just bring the flip flops and put them on on the bus and put them in a locker at the park for the day, or just wear tennis shoes? I mean, if they get wet, they%26#039;ll dry, but what do you think? Also, does shorts with a t-shirt and a bathing suit underneath sound good?

Shoes for theme park?
Yeah.. I would bring ur flip flops and put ur tennis shoes in a locker! I hate wearing tennis shoes at theme parks! Just make sure they are a good pair and won%26#039;t break! =)

Shorts, and t-shirt with a bathing suit underneath sounds like good theme park attire! That%26#039;s what my friends and I always wear!

Have fun! =)
Reply:yeah you can sit on theme

it sounds like an ok plan lockers can be like 10 dollars though it might not be worth it

wearing sneakers isnt that bad they dont rub your feet

if you wear flip flops i guarantee you will have some nasty blisters at the end of the day

and that sucks because then you don%26#039;t want to walk around and then you don%26#039;t get to experience as much
Reply:i%26#039;d only wear flip flops in the water park... i swear... you will regret wearing flip flops all day

your feet will KILL at the end of the day

tennis shoes for the theme park

flip flops in a locker until you go to the water park

and as far as shorts/tee with a bathing suit underneath... just be careful the chest part doesnt show in the front of the shirt.... verrrrrrrrry tacky
Reply:I had the same problem on a field trip almost last week. I just wore my slip-on Vans and no socks. I didn%26#039;t have my shoes on most of the time anyways.
Reply:keep it kool and say that u%26#039;ll hold on to them on the roller coasters... plus if you wear tennies you%26#039;ll just have to take more time out of your fun to take them off!!!

Detachable roller blades?

Not heeleys. Does anybody know where I can find a pair of roller blades that can come on and off of my shoes? I mean so I can walk normally with the shoes, but when I want to I can attach the wheels to it. If anybody finds a site with it, or knows where I can find these, tell me.

Detachable roller blades?
There used to be a few types but they flopped.

I see that Hypno (www.hypnoskates.com/) still has a web site.

They are special boots with frames that clamp onto them.

The version that Rollerblade made was similar.

They are neither great skates or great shoes but work acceptably as either.

There was also another brand (I can%26#039;t think of the name right now) that I got at a close out. They were designed to work with any shoe but the skate part is basicaly as bulky as most skates. They are not very comfortable as skates.
Reply:Found some...Just kidding, but they work for my 3 year old daughter and are adjustable.

I%26#039;m going to agree with funskater, the strap on skates for shoes are just bad in practicality.

I also found some called %26quot;Scorpion%26quot;, but they velcro is sure to fail and really won%26#039;t provide a snug/ secure fit.

How much bigger or smaller is a quad roller skate size than a shoe size?

All skates very depending on which skate it is. Some skates run bigger, some smaller, some wider and some more narrow. The best way to find out is to contact whoever you want to buy your skates from and ask them about the particular boot you are interested in. Some websites will have information about sizing on there for you. Typically, speed skates run in men%26#039;s sizes only but other skates run in women%26#039;s as well. This is all info you would have to get from the seller. I wear the same size skate boot as my shoe size and I wear Reidell 125%26#039;s.

How much bigger or smaller is a quad roller skate size than a shoe size?
The normal range for a unisex boot is one size smaller for female and one larger for men. So if you wore a 9 in womens shoes and a 7 in mens shoes you would want to try an 8 for your skate boot.
Reply:It%26#039;s a bit bigger
Reply:50 SIZES BRING UR *** UP
Reply:It depends on the maker of the boot (Reidell, Harlick) and the type of skate (speed, artistic).

Are there any training roller skates that will not allow you to go backwards?

goddaughter is turning 2 and I heard that they make roller skates that go over tennis shoes but will not go backwards (so you don%26#039;t fall on your butt!) Can anyone tell me what brand they are/where I can get them? If you can find them on Amazon = BONUS!

Are there any training roller skates that will not allow you to go backwards?
I%26#039;d suggest you go check Wal-Mart. I%26#039;ve seen plenty of skates that can lock on the sides so its more like walking. My daughter got skates at 3-4 and we took them to the skating rink (can do yourself) to get the trucks tightened. They can tighten the nut under the skates tight enough that the wheels won%26#039;t move at all. As she gets confidence on her skates, it can be loosened to allow wheel movement. I%26#039;ve not heard of skates that stop backward movement, but the locking worked great for us.

How do you determine what size of roller skates vs shoe size?

My grand-daughter is 9 years old and wear a shoe size 6. I have been searching for Chicago Roller skates for her but their shoe sizes are different. Skate size for girls start from 1-4 then run from Sz j10-13 and then J11 -13. I need help in determing what size to purchase.

How do you determine what size of roller skates vs shoe size?
I looked into buying myself some roller skates last summer. I wanted the old-fashioned skate kind, not rollerblades. I am afraid I don%26#039;t have access to my own computer right now, which has a site bookmarked which had a great selection, but I am sure if you look at skating sites on the internet, you can find a business which will allow you to either email with questions, or will provide a phone number you can call with questions. I know the site I bookmarked had an area on their site that had to do with proper sizing, and they offered several ways to contact them so that you could be sure to buy the correct size of skates.

You might want to look at different websites which sell roller skates and see if you cannot find one where you can get the information you need.

Best of luck!

Where do you go to get roller skating wheels put on a regular pair of shoes?

u know if i had a pair of vans or nikes or chucks....and i wanted roller skating wheels put on them..where would i go locally i live in Los Angeles.

Where do you go to get roller skating wheels put on a regular pair of shoes?
It%26#039;s a little more complicated than you might imagine...

You need to mount a plate on your shoes, which is kind of an art-form in itself. You%26#039;ll need to call a rollerskate company to figure out what size and type of plate you will want - then you%26#039;ll need to order it, along with some mounting bolts and then mount the plate. You will also need %26quot;truck%26quot; setups, wheels and bearings (unless you already have all this stuff).

As I say, it%26#039;s harder than just sticking some wheels on shoes...and not too cheap either...but worth it for a really unique pair of skates!
Reply:Idk locally but you can search online companies.

Heelys are like vans with heels i guess. Not my thing but lots of people i know have them. Theres genaric ones but their kind of ugly...

If you wnat to order online or look at all the styles they have go to google and search heelys and fidn their site. I think theres like 100 styles to choose from and colors :) Hope it helps
Reply:You might be able to get some at a sports store. BUT THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!!

no they wont.

just keep your feet on the foot rest, dont let your feet fly in the air when youre upside down.

Heelys-Hype?? Has there been a one-roller-shoe already several years ago?

We have a Heelys hype in Europe right now and I remember having read someting in a german magazine about a one wheel roller shoe in the early 70%26#039;s or 80%26#039;s.

Has anybody ever seen a rollershoe with one wheel before Heelys?

Heelys-Hype?? Has there been a one-roller-shoe already several years ago?
nope. maybe it didnt take off then as it does now, as teh people then were more fashion-conscious. modern people now, tho they are fashion-conscious too, are also concerned about having fun. plus they have the technology to improve on past inventions, make the exterior design nicer, make the mechanics better-functioning. there you have it. heelys reborn!

Before inline skates, how did you keep your roller skates attached to your shoes?

With a key you used to tighten them.

They strapped onto your regular shoes.

Brilliant idea, really.

Before inline skates, how did you keep your roller skates attached to your shoes?
They strapped onto your shoes, usually with leather buckles, or clamps at the toes that you tightened with a skate %26#039;key%26#039;. And, believe it or not, often times the wheels were metal. Here%26#039;s a pic!

http://www.flickr.com/photos/sharpshoota...
Reply:They had clamps that you used a %26quot;key%26quot; to tighten to the shoes
Reply:CRS
Reply:They were kept on the shoes by a clamp system that had a key that you turned to tighten ot loosen. They had a buckle like a belt buckle.
Reply:Slipped my shoe into a toe part, then strapped a velcro strap at the ankle
Reply:Clamped them onto the shoes and tightened with a skate key. Wore the skate key on a string like a necklace.
Reply:The skate key..................................I wore a key on a blue ribbon around my neck.
Reply:There were clamps on the metal skates that latched onto the

soles of our shoes. These were tightened with a skate key.

We usually wore the skate key on a string around our necks

so we wouldn%26#039;t lose them.
Reply:With my skate key. They had two prongs like thingys on each skate, On the metal ones you just adjusted the prongs in or out to fit your shoe size, No problem. There was also a bolt on the bottom of the skate that you could adjust it lenth wise, if you had a longer foot. I lived on my skates, so I know!!!!!
Reply:With two sets of leather straps, one around the ankle and one over the toes. And you had four wheels instead of two.
Reply:Clamps across the ball of the foot area. Skate key was to adjust these clamps so they fit tightly. And then there was a strap and buckle up by the ankle.
Reply:you tighten it w/a skatekey
Reply:They were a platform you strapped to your shoes
Reply:There were straps from the back of each side of the heel of the skate, they went across your ankle from each side then attached to a buckle in front of your outside ankle bone and there was a clamp on each side of the front part of the skate that attached about where the joint of your little toe attaches to your foot, that was tightened with a key. You needed shoes that had a good sole or the clamps would come off.
Reply:They were tightened with the key of course. But my Foster brothers would make skate boards out of the wheels, small ones... so we didn%26#039;t have to wear hard shoes on a hot summer day! They were so cool back then, I remember one was shaped like a foot with toes and everything, they painted them to look like race cars !! I loved it!

Hugs, Scoot
Reply:A key to tighten them and a strap with a buckle
Reply:Metal plate with 4 wheels and they came with a lengthener that meant no matter what shoe size you were every one could have a go! You tied them on with leather straps....one around the toe area and one around the instep area of your foot.

Had many a skinned knee from mine lol....and generally would fall flat on my face breaking my specs in the process! x

Before inline skates, how did you keep your roller skates attached to your shoes?

before in-line skates, we used what folks now called %26#039;quads%26#039;. befoer that we called %26#039;em shoe skates. i has addidas. they were basically sneakers with wheels. way way before that, skates were thin metal wheel attached to an adjustable clamp sort of. you clamped it to your shoe and tightened it. we used wing nuts, but befoe that, you would use a skate key. if you got a boy%26#039;s key, you were going steady.

fyi, the first skates at the turn of the century (the 20th) were made from bone.

B4 inline skates, we had roller skates %26amp; they looked like ice skates only with rollers on the bottom instead of blades.

At what age shall I consider buying a roller shoe to my son?

My first son is 9 and turning 10 in couple of months. He started roller shoes last year only. But my second son - 5 yrs old wants a pair of roller shoes now. Is it safe? What is the right age for him to get one?

At what age shall I consider buying a roller shoe to my son?
I got my son a pair when he was 4. I didn%26#039;t get him Heelies, I got him a pair that had 4 wheels, because it seemed safer. I explained the rules, and he has followed them...no going up or downstairs with the wheels out, do not skate anywhere near the basement steps, common sense stuff. He%26#039;s been fine with them. Sure, he falls down, but so did I when learning to skate. The first pair of skates he ever had was when he was only about 2 and I got him the Fisher Price skates that go ovwer the shoes. Your son will be fine. let him have some fun!!! BTW he%26#039;s 5 now, and we go skating at a local rink regularly, and he is pretty good now.
Reply:I wouldn%26#039;t get it for him until he can roller skate by himself and use the brake. So I would say about 6-7 years old.

Also, you should know that some studies have shown that roller shoes, such as heeley%26#039;s, are prone to cause foot, leg, and back problems in young children who wear them for prolonged periods of time. Have your kids rotate between some tennis shoes and the roller shoes regularly.
Reply:My five year old rolls around great.
Reply:Please dont buy those for your kids. My 3 year old daughter was run down by a kid wearing those shoes in wal-mart. She was holding on to the cart and he literally ran her over. She wasnt hurt, but she could have been. Not saying your kids will be running loose while wearing them, but why risk it? They could hurt the child wearing them, or an innocent bystander. Do you really want to get a huge hospital bill when your kid runs over another kid, or %26quot;accidently%26quot; knocks them down.
Reply:If he has good coordination I think 5 is fine. My boys had them around that age. If he is a little less coordinated then maybe you should wait. I would just explain to him that it takes a few days to master them, and have big brother give some lessons. Maybe even have him slip his brothers on to get the feel before you commit.
Reply:They are only a fad - and an extremely bad one at that.

Doctors, all over the US, are complaining about them. They cause too many injuries to children - they need to be outlawed!
Reply:NEVER.... They%26#039;re extremely dangerous. Doctors are up in arms about them because they%26#039;re so bad. Not only do they cause alot of injuries, but they can cause long term back or ankle problems because of the way kids position their bodies in them. I%26#039;d take your 9-year-olds and throw them away!!! Then I would explain to BOTH boys that they can have seperate skates or roller blades.

Roller shoe help!!?

I am 20 years old, and I was so excited that I am able to still fit in to kids shoe sizes, and as a result, I bought my first pair of roller shoes. The only problem is, I have no idea how to skate with them! The shoes that I have have one wide wheel on the back that can be put up or down by this nob on the heel of the shoe. Any pointers or techniques on how to skate with these? Thanks for your help!

Roller shoe help!!?
Fun! I%26#039;m 16 and I have a pair that I love. I%26#039;d suggest holding onto a wall or a railing when you first start and lift your toes up while walking. Then you%26#039;ll just glide along! It takes a bit of practice, but it%26#039;s fun!

Actually, though, I%26#039;ve got a bit of an ulterior motive for answering this. Could you email me- whispyfox@aol.com

Thanks, and I hope I answered your question.
Reply:Not to be rude or anything but why would you get them? you are an adult not a child.
Reply:you have to lift the toe up and roll. My granddaughter got some and couldn%26#039;t figure them out till she saw some other kids with them and within minutes she had is down. Maybe go where kids wear them and watch. some kids put the toe of 1 foot on the heel of the other. Good luck.

Why doesn't Target ban those heelys (shoes with roller skates on them)?

They are mega annoying. Kids are flying around cornors...not looking where they are going. Their parents don%26#039;t care. It%26#039;s a huge liability issue. Somebody is going to get hurt. Why doesn%26#039;t Target ban them?

Why doesn%26#039;t Target ban those heelys (shoes with roller skates on them)?
I agree with you. They run into things and other people. I saw a kid the other day fall ova with them on and the mum just stood there while the child was crying and knee bleeding. It is a HUGE liability, they ban things that are less dangerous so maybe write to target get the word out there
Reply:It%26#039;s no different than a child running in a store. They%26#039;re not supposed to do it, but does Target really want to lose all the profits from a family because they %26quot;ban%26quot; a child who wears Heely%26#039;s in the store?

Generally speaking, most retail stores would not have a problem having a security guard or manager ask a child not to roll around in the store.

But, %26quot;banning%26quot;? That%26#039;s a little extreme, don%26#039;t you think?

Tony
Reply:Just run into them. They%26#039;re little kids not paying attention and then yell at their parents for letting their kids run into you.
Reply:Because they are a ton of fun. It%26#039;s a battle they can%26#039;t win anyway. Like they are going to hire people to police that. My daughter has never fallen down while wearing them. She has never collided with anyone or with a display. She puts them on only when we go to a store. Makes my shopping easier. She is conscious of people. You should see her fly down an empty aisle. So funny. She will always remember the fun she has with them. You only live once. : )

Does anyone know where I can buy Heelys roller skate shoes in the Hamilton, Ontario area?

if you have a sports authority or skate shop in your area you can usually find them there. Or look online. Just type in Heelys and you can find them.

maybe ebay?
Reply:Please reconsider this gift. It is not appropriate for a child that young.

A child at age 3 does not have the coordination to use Heely Skate Shoes. My 7 year old daughter got them for Christmas and can only use them with my constant supervision and I STILL worry she will get hurt.

I am not saying this to be mean, just that I am an ER medical assistant and have seen lots of injuries from these skates.
Reply:every now and then they do appear on ebay, but the best bet is to go around some sports superstores like decathlon.

Do you think roller shoes are annoying?

I do.

All they do is skate on them in every store I go to and their parents don%26#039;t seem to care. These kids use other people as goalie posts. Not to mention the price of these shoes. What goes through their heads, if they have one?

Do you think roller shoes are annoying?
Oh my goodness, I dont like them at all!! Whats so wrong with walking??
Reply:It sounds like you are a Grump! Your just mad that they didn%26#039;t have them when you were growing up! Don%26#039;t pick on these kids, sure some kids aren%26#039;t always as respectful as we would hope them to be, but that is all in the line of parenting. Maybe the question you should ask is %26quot;Why don%26#039;t parent watch their kids better when they are in public areas and they are wearing their roller shoes?%26quot; I%26#039;m 25 and I wish I had a pair! I%26#039;d probably use ppl as goalie posts too! That%26#039;s because of ppl like you, grumpy! My biggest question for you is, why do you care soo much about the cost of these shoes, you should be happy they are expensive, esepecially if you wish kids didn%26#039;t have them. KIDS, ROLL ON!
Reply:i think there pretty fun for kids of course.......
Reply:i have them and i don%26#039;t use people as goalie posts thank you very much! i got mine pretty cheap...about 40 bucks....:-)yes they CAN be annoying but they%26#039;re awesome!

How does rollerblading differ from roller skating (shoes?)/other manners of roller skating for weight loss?

due to an ankle break two years ago, i gained a lot of weight in the front of my body. i%26#039;m 54 and the sucka won%26#039;t get me down, but i want to change it.

when a kid, i both ice skated and roller skated. the skates that we used here had 4 wheels per skate and a key. you%26#039;d use the key to clamp the skates onto standard shoes with separate shoe and sole. it was easy to skate, the skates lasted a long time since you really did not need different sizes each time your shoe size changed, and all you%26#039;d need do to stop is put one toe inwards to the other foot. we had few spills.

when i watch someone rollerblading (is that the same as %26quot;inline skating%26quot;?) outside on the sidewalk, i can see that the stomach area and waistline, at least, seem to get a good workout.

what about the abdominal muscles? is roller skating or rollerblading a good form of exercise to reduce fat in the belly area? TO BE CONTINUED BELOW:

How does rollerblading differ from roller skating (shoes?)/other manners of roller skating for weight loss?
rollerblading is essientially the same as roller skates, with the exception that you have to buy a %26#039;whole shoe%26#039; now. I thought, oh,. how could i do this with just a straight line of wheels, but after a few tumbles, like normal, i was fine, except, when stopping with roller blades, you put ur heel down to stop, not like the %26#039;skates%26#039; to stop you put your toes down.

make sure ur get pads! no matter how old, those falls hurt!

dont get %26#039;heelys%26#039;, cause they do long term ankle damage and well it sounds like you don%26#039;t need anything more to happen. also , the HARD shell rolllerblades comfort your ankle and support it better than the soft ones, and i perfer those, but i am 25 and i feel older than i am, lol.

sizes normally run a bit bigger, but just try different types on. I go to walmart, target. etc... you don%26#039;t want a real expensive pr just to start out with. I wear a 7 1/2 w, women, but in rollerblades, i wear a boys 4.
Reply:i want to try rollerblading! itd be fun!!!

i love youe attitue! hah thats great that it wont get you down! =]

sorry i dont really know anything about that but id love to get some roller scates

Roller shoes in adult size 13--how do i get some?
You have to get them specially made. You can go to any major sports store that sells Heelys and they can order them for you. It is hard to get them and you will pay about $20 US more for them over size 12.
Reply:is the 13c comparable to 1 in kids... you might look to that...

How many different types of roller shoes (like Heelys) are there for girls?

I want to buy my 9yr old daughter a pair of roller shoes. I think Heelys are the coolest but they are so expensive. Are there any other brands that are less expensive (where you can skate on your heels) ?? Any advice is helpful.

How many different types of roller shoes (like Heelys) are there for girls?
There are some cute sketcher shoes with wheels on the bottom. I wanted those for myself. There are the ones with the 2 wheels in the front and 2 in the back.
Reply:check out http://www.gift4kidz.com/2/cat... They have the largest selection on roller shoes online and offline. 4 wheel roller shoes is safer and easier to skate, and the wheels can be retractable or pop out by one push. Report It

Roller Shoes?

When I was like... 11 so around 2000-2002, I had these shoes that were huge and clunky but had wheels that popped down from inside the soles. They%26#039;re not heelys, but they had two wheels in each shoe. Does anyone remember what these are called or what I am talking about?

Roller Shoes?
kinda did they hav a button on the siide that made the wheels pop out that u could press on the side walk or something lik that? if that is it then i kno what ur talking about
Reply:theyre still about...there was a big craze of them starting last winter and all the kids had them here (UK)...theyre just like normal trainers but by stepping a certain way i think you can make the wheels pop out...it still scares me when im walking along by some kid and all of a sudden they start rolling off....

I think they came in black or pink and white.
