What do you think.... ???

I am going to the American Idols Live concert in Nasville Wednesday.I have already purchased an outfit that in my opinion is sooo cute but I want to know other opinions too. I went to Kohl's yesterday %26amp; got a cute pair of capris that are kinda faded %26amp; a super cute brown shirt that ties around the neck %26amp; has a littlen star-like design in the middle. I also got a really cute pink tank with designs. I really like the brown one alot %26amp; it will be more skin. For my hair, I am prob going to get up Wednesday morning, put rollers in, %26amp;leave them in for a while, take them out, %26amp; brush it so i will have kind of a beachy wave type thing going on. I'm just wearing a pair of brown flip flops since we have such a hard time finding me new shoes because of my oh-s0-slim foot. For makeup, I went to merle norman %26amp; got a really pretty new pink eye shadow. I am also wearing all the usual, mascara, eyeliner, blush, moisterizer, base,%26amp; lip gloss. What are your opinions on everything ? I just want2 lookGOOD

What do you think.... ???
you will look good, from the discription i read.. youll look great
Reply:The outfit sounds cute!!! Just remember you will be in the middle of a big crowd so you might want to leave you hair up so you don't get too hot.

Good Luck!!!!

Hope this helps =%26gt; ♥
Reply:Your outfit sounds cute. Just keep in mind with your clothes, hair and makeup that you will be in a very crowded place so you'll need to stay cool and comfortable. Your hair and makeup will need to be able to survive being in a hot, loud, crowded place. Your outfit sounds very appropriate for a concert so you should be OK. Make sure the shoes you wear are comfortable. You may have to walk some distance from where you parked and you'll probably be standing a lot.

If the venue is outdoors, I'd suggest waterproof mascara because it will be hot, and you don't want it running down your face. Otherwise, sounds like you've got it pretty well planned. Hope you have a good time!
Reply:I'd change the capris to a khaki color. Everything else sounds really nice. I know you will look great. Have fun!

Well i learned it?

Some things I've learned from my children over the years...

1. There is no such thing as child-proofing your house.

2. If you spray hair spray on dust bunnies and run over them with roller blades, they can ignite.

3. A 3 year-old's voice is louder than 200 adults in a crowded restaurant.

4. If you hook a dog leash over a ceiling fan, the motor is not strong enough to rotate a 42 pound boy wearing batman underwear and a superman cape.

5. It is strong enough however to spread paint on all four walls of a 20 by 20 foot room.

6. Baseballs make marks on ceilings.

7. You should not throw baseballs up when the ceiling fan is on.

8. When using the ceiling fan as a bat you have to throw the ball up a few times before you get a hit.

9. A ceiling fan can hit a baseball a long way.

10. The glass in windows (even double pane) doesn't stop a baseball hit by a ceiling fan.

11. When you hear the toilet flush and the words Uh-oh, it's already too late.

12. Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke, and lots of it.

13. A six year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies.

14. A magnifying glass can start a fire even on an overcast day.

15. If you use a waterbed as home plate while wearing baseball shoe it does not leak-it explodes.

16. A king size waterbed holds enough water to fill a 2000 sq foot house 4 inches deep.

17. Legos will pass through the digestive tract of a four year old.

18. Duplos will not.

19. Play Dough and Microwave should never be used in the same sentence.

20. Super glue is forever.

21. No matter how much Jell-O you put in a swimming pool you still can't walk on water.

22. Pool filters do not like Jell-O.

23. VCR's do not eject PB%26amp;J sandwiches even though TV commercials show they do.

24. Garbage bags do not make good parachutes.

25. Marbles in gas tanks make lots of noise when driving.

26. You probably do not want to know what that odor is.27. Always look in the oven before you turn it on.

28. Plastic toys do not like ovens.

29. The fire department in Austin has at least a 5 minute response time.

30. The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earth worms dizzy.

31. It will however make cats dizzy.

32. Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy.

33. Quiet does not necessarily mean don't worry.

34. A good sense of humor will get you through most problems in life (unfortunately, mostly in retrospect).

Well i learned it?
that is soo true. trust me
Reply:I have read this before, and unfortunately, I know that it is becoming very true in my life with my 2 year old.

Im going to be Marilyn Monroe for halloween. hair help please?

Okay. so i have the white dress, shoes and i know how to do the make up. the only thing i need is how to do my hair to look like Marilyn's. I have a little past shoulder length curly/wavey kinda thick blonde hair.I have no clue how to use hot rollers or a curling iron so my mom is going to help me. which should i use %26amp; should i buy hair products such as gel or what?

Im going to be Marilyn Monroe for halloween. hair help please?
Party City has a great Marilyn wig. Here it is:

http://www.partycity.com/cgi-bin/parties...
Reply:Get a picture of her, then play around till you get your hair to look like hers in the picture. You have nearly a month, so lots of time to experiment. I like Aussie products best, they work well and smell yummy.
Reply:Get your Mom to use extra large rollers on damp hair. Spray with a setting lotion. Dry your hair using a blow dryer. Remove the curlers - don't whatever you do, comb through your hair - loosen the curls gently and leaning upside down, give your hair a shake back as you stand up again. The style should fall neatly into place with a side parting so that you have some wave falling over one side of your face.
Reply:ok so first

go buy some redken curl activator

then have your mom curl some curls with a large curler (like 2 inch)

and then after you curl it then pin it to your head until you are ready to go =]

take the pins out then hair spray it down

good luck %26lt;3
Reply:Know whatd be easier? Go to a salon, and ask, "Can you make my hair look like Marilyn Monroe?"
Reply:Wow! You have the PERFECT hair for this kind of thing. I am in a jazz choir and i dress up for competitions, so i am familar with this kind of hair style. Here is what you might need:

Bobby Pins

Hair brush

Lightweight Hairspray

Pomade (used for control and shine without stiffness)

Setting Lotion

Here's how:

Remember that the most important part of styling your hair in the 1940's is where you place the part. If you are going to roll your hair, you should use this one. The most popular part of this decade was the side part which was also the most versatile because you can use it for day looks or the ultra glamorous looks.

ROLLING YOUR HAIR :

Rolls are the most important part of 1940's style hairstyles. The key is not to make them tall and stiff but keep them soft and feminine looking. Height isn't important as most rolls were medium sized.

1. With damp hair, make a rectangular part

2. Then create rolls of curls - go from the back to the front (the more hair you use, the larger the roll will be)

3. After your hair dries, comb out the curls and spray with a gentle hold hairspray

4. Tuck the ends of the curls under and bobby pin

You can use this technique for all your rolls. The easiest way to vary it is to change the placement of the part. You can also change the direction of the curls and tuck the ends forward instead of back. You can make a forward roll authentic by making the top of the roll lightly curved instead of straight. Also, you can use this technique to create a pompadour which is much higher by using longer hair.

THE FINISHING TOUCH :

Once you have rolls, you can so just about anything else with your hair. If you are in a hurry, you can easily put a bow in your hair or tie it up in a scarf. You can also put your hair in a hair net. Also, you can curl the sides and pull it back, braid it or even roll it at the nape of your neck.

TIPS:

The keys to making your 1940s styles look good:

Try not to let your bobby pins show

As much as you would love for your hairstyle to stay all night and sometimes all week, do not use a firm hold hairspray.

The best thing that you can do to keep the style all night is to spray your hair at the base of the rolls.

You should really only use hairspray as a finishing touch.

For a smooth look, you can use pomade (which, can be difficult to wash out).

If your hair is thin and won't hold rolls, you can place a "rat" in the roll which they sell at most beauty supply stores. This is a soft mesh netting in a similar hair color as your own.

I know it seems like a lot to do, but once you get the hang of it, all your friends will be super-jealous of your fabulous look!

Have fun!

How do you dress to hang out with celebrities if you're not a celebrity?

It's a long story I won't go into, but my wife and I are attending a party in Austin tomorrow night with a lot of national celebs. I feel silly just wearing a regular suit. I'm trying to build some social capital and I don't want to look like a "regular guy" that got invited to a fancy party.

These aren't rock 'n rollers - it'll be a mixture of filmmaker types and authors and artists. I'd be considered a "lesser" author and artist, that's why I'm going. I was thinking of doing some greyish slacks, a black sport jacket that has a very modern cut, and a brown, striped shirt with french cuffs, no tie, and a matching pocket square. I have a pair of black shoes that will also work nicely.

I have a large wardrobe, I have plenty of money to shop. The question - do I try to look a bit hip, or go with something traditional.

FYI - I actually do look just like my avatar, just a bit heavier.

How do you dress to hang out with celebrities if you're not a celebrity?
You need to dress hip a little bit, but dont over do it to the point where they are like..umm who is this guy. You want your personality to shine through, but you dont want to come off as showy or fake in anyway. I would say what your outfit is described as is nice. French cuffs are very hot right now and show that you know what is up in the fashion industry. It sounds to me that you know a thing or two about fashion, and you should def. go with it!

Check out what the celebs are going to be wearing. http://www.whatcelebswear.com

You can search by celebrity, brand or articule of clothing.
Reply:Why do you even feel the need to impress anyone. Celebs put their clothes on the same way you do one leg at a time. No one changes in a phone booth, thats just a superman myth. If you really want to look hip and with it, wear the style of the party. Blue jeans tee-shirt, sandles.

The only one you need to impress is Jesus and he don't care what you wear. a2J
Reply:Whatever are you going on about ? It seems that you think these people care what you wear, remember celebrities are the same as us, just be yourself and don't try to impress anyone, let them accept you for who you are, which should be an individual. Have a good time.
Reply:Okay, black is good. The more black the better. Not only is black very 'in' this season, but it is also traditional and hip, can be dressed up or dressed down. I would say a very trendy suit. If you have money to shop, I would go with Armani. His suits are very sharp. Give me a minute, I'll get you a link to some sites.
Reply:B UR SELVE

AND EJOY UR TIME AT ZE PARTY
Reply:Read some useful fashion and more tips on this site to help you
Reply:I have been to numerous parties such as this. Some celebs will take any event and try and turn it into a fashion show. My # 1 rule was always BE COMFORTABLE AND FEEL GOOD ABOUT YOURSELF!

Why don't you go check out some magazines like US Weekly, or In Touch or In Style and see what the male celebs are wearing at most of these casual events. I almost think a pocket square it too much without a tie.

Some slacks, nice shoes and a nice dress shirt would look great and hip. Reflect your own style! Remember most of thee people are "artists" of some type and did not get to be where they are today by having their movies and books be "like everyone else"!

Rollerskates?

I want to learn to ride roller skates (amateur level, no Olympic games participation). Just need an advice on how to choose the right roller skates. If you know a good brand, I'll appreciate it, too.

I need to know, how to choose the right size (is it the same size as my shoe size?), how to wear them (socks or no socks), and where to try riding them first (although, I'm pretty sure it's going to be ma apartment floor).

Rollerskates?
If you're serious about learning the sport and willing to invest in it, here is my advice:

DO NOT buy sneaker skates or the cheap ones from Wal-Mart or places like that. Good skates have balanced frames proportionate to the shoe size. Target has ones that look like the real deal, but they use the same frame on like 3 sizes! When you stand in the skates, you shouldn't feel like you are going to fall forward over the front wheels.

Chicago is a good brand on the cheap end of the scale. But the better ones are Reidell. They are fully customizable to your weight, size, etc.

When you skate, your foot should feel securely in the boot without shifting. lifting or rubbing. You should wear 2 pair of socks to keep from getting blisters or skate socks. They sell them at the skate supply places.
Reply:dont sk8board
Reply:Clever these submariners.
Reply:Go to a sport shop or toys shop, try to find one-line roller skates (with four wheels each one). ask for help to the shop's employees about the materials of the roller. besides look for one that seems like a boot of snow skate from the skies. the size is just like your size shoes, use socks please and find somewhere outside a room is too dangerous practice this in a closed place you could hit your head or something with furniture. the best is try it with a friend who could help you ah. and when you try enjoy it.
Reply:Go to Toys R Us.

Quad skates versus inline for a beginner; which is better for learning?

I want to buy my 8 year old daughter roller skates for Christmas. She is just a beginner, and can't skate. I had planned on buying her a pair of the old style quad skates thinking those would be better for learning. However, when I was shopping, I saw a lot of inline skates for her shoe size, and now I don't know what to buy. Which is better for learning? Or are they pretty much the same? I would like to hear from other parents whose kids recently learned to roller skate.

Quad skates versus inline for a beginner; which is better for learning?
I have to agree with the post by "askme." As a skating coach, I feel that quads are better for youngsters, since many do not yet have the strength in their ankles to handle inlines. There are different techniques for inlines than for quads. In addition, quads are easier to fit children with. I see many kids in the rink with inlines that are too big (turning their ankles in, which can cause injuries, obviously).

As for the learning process, you can always tighten the wheels so they don't roll freely, which will give the child a little advantage. Every time she skates, you can loosen the wheels a little bit.

GOOD LUCK!
Reply:Get inline skates. they are easy to learn and much better for control once she gets a little better at it. plus she will feel more comfortable skating with what the majority of other kids are using and can learn from watching them too. If she has skates a lot different from the others, she won't be able to have the other kids help teach her as effectively
Reply:I think inline skates are MUCH easier. They have a longer "wheelbase" and are more stable. Also if you look around you'll see many many kids with inline and hardly any with quad skates (outside of roller derby), so she'll be more in style.

Don't forget helmet, as well as knee and elbow pads, specially at first! If she gets a bad whack on the knee it may take years to recover.otherwise.
Reply:I'm a mom. I also skate for a roller derby league. My kid learned to skate on inlines. She recently learned to skate on quads. It's really a personal choice.

Quads and inlines are different. Learning to skate on one does not mean you will be able to skate on the other.

As far as learning and getting the feel for the movement, quads provide more stability for balancing.

If she starts on quads, moving to inlines will be a new experience, but she will already have a feel for rolling.

Something to keep in mind when buying skates, sizes will vary according to type of skate. Ask a sales person about sizing. In most cases, you will need to get a size smaller than her regular shoe size. If she wears a size 8 shoe, she would need a size 7 skate. It depends on the type of skate.

Also, be sure to purchase protective gear: knee and elbow pads, wrist guards, and a helmet.

Happy skating!
Reply:Quads for the very first pair. She wont need major strength in her ankles. Once she has found her "centre" move her onto inlines if desired.

Quads are dead cool though.
